Today we’re going to talk about Fairy Frost, which falls into the category of internal structures. Crystals with Fairy Frost are sometimes called “Devic”, because they can connect us to Nature Spirits or Deva.
Initially the term Fairy Frost might make you think of something on the outer surface of a crystal (frost on the pumpkin, frost in the ground), however it isn’t. Fairy Frost occurs only inside the crystal. Crystals with Fairy Frost have fractures and inclusions of air within them. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Some are more fairy-like than others. Many crystals have Fairy Frost, in fact more of them have it than don’t have it. A crystal without any Fairy Frost at all is called optically clear or water clear with no fractures or inclusions. Here are some pictures of Fairy Frost:
Some crystals are primarily clear (you can still through or into the crystal in places) but have a lot of concentrated Fairy Frost inside. They are described as being “dense with Fairy Frost”. If you can’t see through them at all (there are no clear areas or very very few clear areas) they are described as Milky or Feminine. We will discuss those crystals next week. Here is a picture of crystals which would be described as ‘dense with Fairy Frost’:
Here are some more crystals with lighter amounts of Fairy Frost:
As you can see in the above pictures, the Fairy Frost sometimes takes on shapes which remind us of something else, for example, faces, clouds, animals, etc.
Very often, along with the Fairy Frost there are fractures called Mirror Fractures. They are shiny and silvery and look like mirrors inside the crystal. They often have Rainbows on them. Here are some crystals with Mirror Fractures:
Here’s another with Mirror Fractures:
And still more Mirror Fractures (with Fairy Frost all around):
Very often you will see shapes and images in crystals that others don’t. This doesn’t mean the shape is only in your imagination (isn’t real), oftentimes crystals will show something to a person that is a special message for them. This next photo has two Mirror Fractures which look like women to me. The top left one looks like a woman with a scarf over her head, and the one on the right looks like the same woman, made out of glass or crystal.
Here are some examples of images in Mirror Fractures and Fairy Frost. I didn’t mark the Fairy Frost because it would be too confusing, but I think you can see that anything that is wispy is Fairy Frost. Here’s an example of Mirror Fractures in the shape of Mountains. The wispy stuff all around is the Fairy Frost.
Here’s a small Mirror Fracture that looks like an alien to me. The wispy stuff is Fairy Frost:
Here’s a really amazing Mirror Fracture added with Fairy Frost which looks like a Fairy or an Angel (depends on the energy you feel). I also see an antler in there which I didn’t outline.
This next image is made from Fairy Frost, not Mirror Fractures. Do you see it? You will probably see many more images and figures in these crystals, and that’s great! I encourage you to look and see what you can find. Do this with your crystals at home, as well.
Fairy Frost can appear and disappear. I have noticed that some crystals which were very dense with Frost when I first got them may clear up. I have a crystal wand which I was gifted, the hilt or main body of the wand is a crystal which was faceted (cut and polished) into a column, and it was very dense with frost when I first got it. It is much more clear now (several years later) even though I don’t use it often. However it lives in my bedroom near and with a lot of other crystals, and I look at it often, so it has probably been running energy. You may find that your crystals may become more clear or more frosty inside. Now that you know it is possible, start watching them for change.
So now that we know what Fairy Frost and Mirror Fractures are, how do we work with them? Depending on the crystal, and whether the Fairy Frost or Mirror Fractures represent something to us (mountains, fairies, sprites, etc) we may work with that particular energy. The wispy Frost inside crystal is also something that draws us in, causes us to look for shapes and messages, scenes and landscapes. It’s like a world inside a world. A natural snow globe. In this way, crystals with Fairy Frost (which admittedly is the majority of crystals) will connect us with nature, as it sometimes appears like fog we see outside, and with fairies, as it sometimes takes the shape of them. Because crystals are BORN from the earth, it causes us to have more reverence for the life which gave us this beauty, Mother Gaia.
Today we learned that:
- The wispy stuff inside crystals is called Fairy Frost.
- The shiny silvery areas are called Mirror Fractures.
- Both are internal features, not external, as they might suggest.
- Crystals may have both Fairy Frost and Mirror Fractures.
- Fairy Frost and Mirror Fractures may take the shape of other things such as scenery, people, fairies, etc.
- Fairy Frost serves to draw us deep into the inner world of the crystal.
- Fairy Frost can connect us to Deva and Nature and remind us to care for Mother Earth.
I hope you have enjoyed this discussion about Fairy Frost and Mirror Fractures in crystals; what they are, how to determine if you have one, and how to work with them. Next time we’ll discuss Feminine, Masculine and Yin/Yang quartz crystals.
Here is a recap of the past posts featuring the metaphysical configurations and links to where you might find these various crystal configurations if you decided you might like to work with them:
FAIRY FROST & MIRROR FRACTURES (To connect us to Nature Spirits and to care for Mother Earth) purchase FAIRY FROST crystal
DOW or TRANS-CHANNELER CRYSTALS (For divine balance, and a connection with the self and Universal Truth.) Note: Dow crystals are rare, and I don’t always have very many of them. Sometimes the ones I have are Dow by count (7-3-7-3-7-3) but have one large 7-sided face (present as a Channeler) or two large 7-sided faces and one small 7 (present as a Transmitter). If you order one, I will let you know at time of purchase what I have available. purchase DOW or TRANS-CHANNELER crystal read blog post
DOLPHIN CRYSTAL (To encourage teaching in a loving, fun, joyful way, or alternately, to assist one to enjoy learning) read blog post
See you next week for Feminine, Masculine and Yin/Yang quartz crystals.
